A new range of special-purpose products can save woodworkers hundreds of dollars in equipment damage, improve safety, and save time. Van Nuys, California. Following the success of their Wizard line of metal detectors for woodworkers, Wizard Industries has recently expanded their product lines. Wizard's original product line included the Wall Wizard (wizarddetectors.com), a metal-detection based stud-finder that really works, then was expanded into woodworking markets with the Little Wizard and Lumber Wizard. "With the Little Wizard and Lumber Wizard firmly established in the market," says Billy Carmen, CEO, "we felt ready to branch out into other product areas within our target market." That market, according to Carmen, has "quickly come to recognize the Wizard brand." Originally the Little Wizard hand held metal detector was designed to detect metal objects buried up to 1 1/2" deep in wood. It is small, lightweight, and inexpensive. The Little Wizard retails for only $19.95 and is currently available through hardware and tool stores nationwide, including Sears, Ace and thousands of other retailers. This is such inexpensive insurance that, according to Woodenboat Magazine, "not owning one begins to seem like false economy." The Lumber Wizard, which retails for $99.95, is the most powerful of all metal detectors in its field. The Lumber Wizard is a powerful precision hand-held metal detector utilizing the same technology utilized in many security detectors commonly used inside airports and prisons. However, the Lumber Wizard departs from other security-type detectors with added features for woodworkers. The Lumber Wizard provides powerful precise detection of small metal objects that can be buried up to 4" inside new or used lumber. It includes a special "vibration alert" allowing easy use in noisy workshops, or by the hearing impaired. Adding to the safety afforded by detecting metal before cutting, Wizard has now introduced the ShopSpecs Bifocal Safety Glasses (shopspecs.com), which are destined to become one of the most important safety items among woodworkers nationwide. These Safety glasses with built-in bifocals, are not only very unique, but also have been very well received by woodworkers worldwide. The demographic of woodworkers closely matches that of bifocal users, and their comfort and ease of use assures the ShopSpecs growing success. Launching this Fall is another new Wizard item called the EZ-Sand Pro (ezsand.com), which is certain to continue Wizard's success. The new EZ Sand Pro is a great addition to any arsenal of power tools. The EZ Sand Pro allows woodworkers, DIY'ers and other woodcraftsmen to use their power sander on curves and angles in ways previously not possible. By allowing one to get more out of their existing quarter-sheet power sander, the EZ Sand Pro will help save time and money. "We've kept within our basic niche, while expanding our market reach." Says Carmen, who points out that Wizard products can now be found in over 10,000 stores across the U.S. and Canada. "We've also begun exporting our products to Australia and Europe. As we enter our third year in business we are looking forward to continued growth, expansion of our markets, and the success of our new product lines." Editors
